Hiya

Is Iceland frozen fish any good and if so how do you cook it?

My dd (3) loves fish but its so expensive is frozen fish a good compromise?

Frozen fish is absolutely fine. Make sure you cook it from frozen, don't defrost it. It will say this on the packet and give you the cooking time and temperature.
You can just put the fish on a lined baking tray or in a heatproof bowl. It doesn't need to be covered, but some people prefer to cover it or wrap it in foil to keep the flavour and stop it drying out. The fish can be cooked plain, or with a sauce or breadcrumbs on top. This doesn't affect the cooking time very much. To check if it's cooked properly, scrape the thickest part of the fish with a knife. The fish needs to flake easily and be opaque white (or pink with salmon/mackerel, brown with tuna) all the way though.
It is also perfectly fine to steam frozen fish. It's usually quicker, too. Just wrap in foil and place in steamer! Test for flakiness to check when ready.
As with most things in life, the more expensive fish tends to be the nicest. Try to avoid pollock if at all possible. It's a very cheap white fish, usually used for supermarket basic/value lines and also in cat food! It's tasteless, at best. Smoked haddock portions are a good bet and usually quite affordable.
Can you tell I love fish too?!

It’s okay. It’s not as nice as fresh but of course lots of what is called “fresh” fish is actually defrosted. We’ve always got some Iceland frozen fish in the freezer for quick meals. The “white fish” and wild salmon are both okay and I’m sure would be good enough for a 3 year old who likes fish.

Just going against what the previous poster says, you can defrost it before cooking, just put it in your fridge 24 hours before yo need it. I find it produces less water than cooking from frozen.
