Veggie and coeliac suggestions

Hi

I have a veggie and a coeliac coming for dinner. I’m thinking of doing a fish risotto for main (veggie eats fish), but i’m stuck for ideas for starters and puddings-help!

I'm coeliac and don't eat loads of meat. There's loads of options. Starter could be a salad, a soup (maybe with gluten free roll / crackers?), pate with a nice gluten free bread, stuffed mushrooms / mini peppers.
Dessert could be creme brulee, mini pavolas and soft fruits, eton mess, some kind of poached fruit (pears? spiced figs?). If you like baked goods for dessert, GF baking can be tricky to get the hang of, but polenta cake is usually GF, or brownies made with GF flour tend to come out nicely because the lack of gluten lends itself nicely to that chewy brownie-ish texture.
FWIW I consider a really nice GF bread a real treat, because so many of them are nasty - but the good stuff is pricey!

Whoops, forgot pate is meat-based; ignore that one!

This a delicious pudding with cream or ice cream. No flour so gluten free and is basically a brownie cake.

GF baking is hard to get right especially if you are not used to it but carrot cake can work quite well.

Also crumble topping works well with gluten free flour, you can also add gluten free oats as well for a different texture.

I would do a soup for starter although if veggie eats fish you could do something with prawns.

Your veggie friend isn't a veggie.

Baked brie (Tesco do a Cornish brie which is veggie) with gluten free breadsticks and crudités to start? Or a cheese fondue?
I'm not great at puddings.... Meringue nests with caramel condensed milk, chopped banana, whipped cream and a sprinkle of grated chocolate flake as a homage to banoffee pie?

I make this because it's nice. None of us are GF

Forget starters, they are too much of a faff - serve olives, nuts, crisps etc with bubbly instead.
Puddings - lemon drizzle cake works well gluten free too. Chocolate mousse, lemon posset, pavlova with passion fruit, orange polenta cake is good too.
