Has anyone managed to recreate this? I've found a recipe online that's supposed to be similar, but wondering if anyone here has actually tried making it? Apparently it takes 24 hours Shock

Oh my god tell me if you figure it out! I hear butter and cream are essential.

I love Dishoom's daal.

I've tried to recreate it, I'm pretty sure it was this recipe (but without the steps with the charcoal) and it was pretty good.

Ive made a version of their okra too which turned out really well but haven't been able to recreate the Ruby Murray to a good enough standard Sad

Hope your attempt goes well!

It’s long and slow cooked. The closest I have found is the 8 hour Dahl from Pushpesh Pant’s India book.

Hi there Yes we've made it a few times at home - and the same as you, after going to Dishoom Smile Any of the recipes for Dal Makhani, it needs a lot of patience and plenty of cream

Oh the okra fries are great too, will give those a go! I've not been out yet to get the ingredients so I expect I'll try it during the week, but will definitely report back! I thought lots of cream might be the answer, that does often seem to be why things taste so nice in restaurants! Have any of you actually cooked yours for 24 hours? Seems like an awfully long time...

I’ve made Meera Sodha’s Black Dahl - from a newspaper clipping but probs online. It does need starting the day before, and it does have whole milk. Is delicious!
