Sugar-free recipes for kids that are actually sugar free?

I'm looking for sugar free recipes for my 9 year old. Specifically in terms of snacks or desserts.

I've been Googling but all the sugar free recipes seem to have a form of sugar in them e.g. honey, fruit, maple syrup.

DS needs to have quite a bit of work done on his teeth including surgery, fixed brace/train tracks so he needs to keep good oral hygiene and avoid sugar where possible.

Is there a good source of sugar-free recipes that actually have no sugar (in any of its forms) in them?

Many thanks.

Try Da Vinci sugar free syrups. They taste great, and are useful for making cakes, milkshakes, etc with those flavours, when people really can’t have sugar!

I used to make muffins for DD, using them and artificial sweeteners, when DD could not have sugar at all. The only problem was sugar is a preservative and they would go mouldy in a couple of days - you have to freeze them, and defrost a few as and when needed!

That sounds interesting. I've not heard of them. What are they made from?

Matthews Friends produced a recipe book for children on the ketogenic diet - absolutely no sugar is allowed. On no account should you put your son on the ketogenic diet, as its is not a nutritionally complete diet unless under medical supervision; but the recipes for muffins, ice cream, pancakes, etc could be used to give your son the occasional treat.

I can’t remember, but the tastes are very realistic. I used to buy them online from The Low Carb Store.

The Splenda website has some good recipes. A lot of them contain fruit too, but there are some that don't such as shortbread and sponge cake. You could serve the Splenda sponge cake with custard made from no added sugar custard powder, sugar free jelly and cream like a trifle.

I make ice lollies from sugar free angel delight.

Crusha sugar free milkshake mix is available from most larger supermarkets in banana, strawberry, raspberry and chocolate. I use it to flavour cuppa porridge as a snack.

You can use a sweetener called Xylitol (often found in chewing gum etc) as it doesn't cause the same damage to teeth as sugar

another thing is acid.so if they have acidic foods or sugary food try to let them have some cheese after this is a proven ph leveler and will balance out the corrosive nature.just a little tip my dental surgeon told me.

I am curious, without ANY sugar, do you also mean sugar substitutes, Splenda, Xylitol etc.. or any fruit... and what about fruity vegetables (carrots etc).

We eat a relatively low added sugar diet and have these snacks: Nuts, rice cakes, nut butter (1-2g of sugar per 100g), seeds, roasted chick peas, pop corn, vegetables with humous, tuna mayo dip, crackers and salami. pancakes with dried meat.

Using dates to sweeten.... (these are also dairy and gluten free but you can adapt the recipes..).

Sweet potato brownies (200g of sweet potato, 100g of date paste, 1 tablespoon of cocnut oil, 3 eggs, 3 tablespoon of cacao powder, vanilla powder). Mix the dates, coconut oil and sweet potato in a blender then add the eggs, beaten in by hand.

Banana bread: 100g gound nuts, 200g bananas, 2 eggs, 50g raisins.

Almond biscuits 100g dates, 100g almond butter 1 egg, spices to taste.

Ice cream: Frozen bananas and frozn fruit.

Thank you everyone.

To PP, I mean nothing that has any sugars in, so not fruit (fructose) or honey (fructose/glucose) - basically anything that act as an acid in the mouth.

It's quite hard to find recipes as most sugar-free recipes have a tonne of sugar in, it's just not white granulated sugar.

DS made no added sugar banana cake at school which was pretty good.
We made another batch at home. Doubled up ingredients and added loads more cinnamon and mixed spice which was even better
