Low FODMAP Recipes

My DH has been on a low FODMAP diet (i.e. no onion, no garlic, no gluten, no lentil, no beans, and many other 'no 's) for about 1.5 years and I'm looking for new recipes!

Managed to make a few good meals through substituting garlic for garlic-infused oil, and substituting onion for asafoetida but starting to get bored of our regular food.

Anyone else out there on a low FODMAP diet with some suggestions? Or any foodies out there willing/savvy enough to help me out?

Info on FODMAP here for the curious: www.ibsdiets.org/fodmap-diet/fodmap-food-list/

Not a recipe, but how is he with shallots as they’re lower fodmap. Just found that our large Sainsbury’s does ready chopped frozen shallots - cheaper and much much easier than fresh

Unfortunately shallots are just as bad as onion for DH.

We've tried spring onions as DH can have the green bits but not the white bits. But it ends up with me having to separate out the portions into green and white, and since there's always leftovers (which DH often helps himself to) it can get problematic (i.e. DH eats them and ends up bloated!)

What do you normally cook?
Tonight we are having home made chicken and rice soup (veggies and chicken broth type soup am adding rice to serve)
Tomorrow is salmon and prawns with a marinade , stir fried veg (carrot, courgette, broccoli, cauliflower maybe beans and if all is ok corn and peas)
I struggle with breakfast.
I use dried garlic and onion once I dont use them every day I am ok

There's 7 main meals I cook (although, I do experiment 1 day each week with a new meal):

  1. Poached chicken (made with tomato puree, turmeric, asafoetida, salt, pepper)
  2. Salmon (in a variety of ways, but often oven-baked with a soy-sauce, salt, pepper dressing)
  3. Risotto (often made with celery, spring onions, white wine)
  4. Ratatouille (served with gluten-free bread)
  5. Beef stir-fry (made with soy-sauce, and whatever veggies we have. So ends up tasting different each time!)
  6. Prawn curry (made with tomato puree, olive oil, salt, pepper, chili powder)
  7. Halloumi burgers (made with gluten free bread, halloumi, roasted peppers, home-made guacamole)

I'm not a very confident cook, although the above 7 meals (albeit simple) do end up tasting really nice.

Forgot to mention that rice accompanies most of the above meals!

What about recipe books - have you tried / got any, as they'd have lots of suggestions.

Plenty on Amazon, ebay & bookstores etc. but I suppose it depends what your DH can actually eat - the books might be too generic.

I've tried a fair few recipes from FODMAP food blogs and websites, but haven't found much that I've been impressed by. We've found that a lot of the suggested recipes are either quite bland/are too spicy/have strange flavour combinations. Of course I've tried adjusting the spice levels as well (I'll give everything at least 2 tries!), but we haven't come across a 'wow' dish yet.

I was hoping that maybe I could try and get some suggestions from individuals who don't have a vested interest in providing recipes (i.e. not entirely sure that even the blog writers like the foods we've tried that much, but are just trying to gain ad revenue!).

Due to the un-successes so far, I'm quite hesistent about investing in an actual cook book!

I just feel like the key formula for an amazing meal is one that has garlic and onion in it!
