What would be your perfect B&B breakfast??

I am having some guests to stay for one night next week. They are arriving late ( after dinner) and leaving after breakfast the next day.

These are friends who have given us some wonderful dinners and hospitality in the past, so even though I've only got one them for one meal I want to spoil them with a lovely spread. Ideas please!

For a B&B:
Option of toast and pastries with butter / marg, jams / marmalade etc to start
A full cooked breakfast (including hash browns, v important!) but with an option to / chose thing (beans or tomatoes, extra sausage instead of bacon, friend scrambled or poached eggs, that wort of thing
Oranage juice and lots of tea and coffee.

But when we stay at B&Bs that's all we have all day untill the evening.

As a guest in someones house, I would be very happy with an option for breakfast (full English, egg / bacon / sausage (or all 3) sandwiches in nice uncut bread etc). Plenty of tea and coffee is a must.

I like a traditional cooked breakfast but love to try something local - sausages, local eggs, maybe some local bread etc.

I'm glad the full english still gets a look in. I'm too old to start faffing about with avocado.

The bread is tricky....nice uncut loaf for full english and then maybe posh bread rolls for jams/marmalade maybe??

I stayed in a fabulous 'destination' BnB in South Africa once; the breakfast was absolutely gorgeous.-

Thick youghurt, with muesli/dried fruit/crunchy nuts/cream
Granary toast with homemade jam/marmelade, local honey, proper butter
Exotic fruits, beautifully presented and cut.
Just-pressed assorted juice
Chilled and flavoured water (fizzy/with fruit in/with herbs in/plain)
Freshly made coffee
well brewed tea.

Was stunning. And perfect for a hot day - cold morning in Jan, possibly not!?

Maybe some really good Bircher muesli/overnight oats? My current favourite breakfast is either that or pureed avocado and bacon with a toasted bagel or toasted sourdough.

Dorset Muesli with greek yoghurt and berries.
Local bacon,sausages or eggs from overpriced farm shop.
Decent coffee.

But tbh they're coming to see you and would probably be happy with cereal and toast.

Not everyone wants either a lot of sugary stuff or a full English in the morning, so I would offer both sweet & savoury options. If i was lucky enough to have a good local farm shop, proper butcher or artisan baker, I would shop there for ingredients rather than the supermarket.

If you've got a coffee machine, great, but if not a cafetière is fine. A pot of proper loose-leaf tea, too.

Eggs benedict with either ham, smoked salmon and/or spinach and hollandaise sauce. I usually choose this if we go out for brunch but the poached eggs must cooked to perfection!

really why would you puree bacon??
I think the perfect breakfast depends on the people and what they are doing later in the day. Eg, going for a lovely lunch, small breakfast required. Going somewhere for dinner, large late breakfast to keep them going. Personally, I hate a 'full English' and would rather be able to choose which pieces I fancy.

I think locally produced stuff if you can get it. (Eggs, sausage, bacon,)
Really good uncut bread toasted
Fabulous coffee and tea.

I love eggs benedict and sometimescheat with hollandaise out of a jar!

Flowers on the table, napkins, matching cups or mugs, matching crockery, milk in a jug, sugar in a matching bowl, tea in a pot, coffee in a cafetière will all help to make it feel special.

But I’m sure that whatever you do will be lovely because you like them and so the atmosphere will be nice and welcoming.

Nice napkins, flowers etc a really good idea.

There is a farm near me they sell their own butter out of a 24 hour vending machine! Might be worth getting some as a bit of a novelty

I'd say cook whatever you're comfortable/confident with but just make sure the ingredients are the best quality you can lay your hands on. Something simple like bacon butties and coffee can be amazing if the bread, bacon and coffee are top notch.

I also wouldn't worry about the London hipster thing, presumably they're coming away to experience something different. Showcase the best that your local area has to offer.

Farm shop sausages, thick cut smoked bacon, scrambled eggs and grilled tomatoes. Thick cut loaf (sourdough for hipster points). Salted butter and strawberry jam. Warmed croissants. Fresh juice and coffee.

I held a brunch for my friends fortieth and this is what I did

Nice juice
Water with cucumber and lime slices in
Slow roasted baby tomatoes in olive oil and garlic
Mashed avo with lime and a little chilli and olive oil
Sour dough toasted
Fried halloumi slices
Poached eggs
Grilled bacon

Big bowl of Greek yoghurt topped with berries and then a Pitney if local
Honey for people to use. Big bowl of granola.

Was lovely and pretty easy. You could swap poached for scrambled as they are easier.

Ok majority seems to be good provenance full english with granola/fruit etc prettified and on table as a starter. With nice tea and coffee. And maybe some sourdough as a hipster nod

If a full English is a bit much, I would just go for a choice of sausage or bacon sandwiches, but again, with fab quality sausage or bacon, amazing bread, fab sauces, freshly squeezed OJ etc. Less work for you too.
