He did the online shop. I now have 6 bags of new potatoes. Can you give me some suggestions for what to do with them? I normally just season and serve with veg and fish or chicken dishes. Grin TIA

You could make mashed potatoes and freeze it in portions, or make cottage pie.

Take them out of the plastic bags and put them somewhere cold and dry and dark. Then they should last until you are ready to eat them

That’s hard. Lots of potato soup?

I had ocado this morning and receive 8 litres of double concentrate orange squash. At least it can be stored.

Potato salad for lunches next week,
Make wedges for tea
Make a cottage pie and freeze it
And store a bag or two.

That should use them all up!

Can you mash new potatoes? Do you peel them first? They are sooo tiny.

Potato salad every day sounds, er, delightful. Will try for 1 or 2 days. DH can have it every day.

Will get them in to the bottom drawer of the fridge, is that ok for them?

Potatoes would be better in shed/cellar/porch. We keep fruit veg and spuds in the outside annex which is just warmer than outdoors and things last ages. In fridge would be ok if you have room but remove plastic or they will lose water and sprout

I parboil and then freeze. Chuck them in hot oil straight from freezer for about 40 mins with lots of seasoning. Yum 😋

I think if you boiled them and got them good and dry they'd probably freeze well - you can buy frozen roast potatoes, so I don't see why not. But I don't know quite what you then do with defrosted boiled new potatoes, so that's not much help.

Online shopping once resulted in me having gallons of bleach - I was stocked up on bleach for years. I hardly ever even use it - I've no idea what I thought was going on.

You could freeze them just lightly blanched. Just prepare as you normally do, cook for about 3 mins, cool in iced water then freeze.

Chicken chorizo and new potato tray bake. Chicken thighs, rub in olive oil. New potatoes. Red onion . Orange zest and oregano. Roast in oven. Add chunks of chorizo about 20 minutes before its done and baste/turn while you're at it.

Our food bank doesn't accept fresh produce. Give some to your neighbours?

Why didn't you send them back when they arrived!?

No, you can’t mash new potatoes.
You can boil them and roast them in their skins.
I wouldn’t worry. They will keep fine in somewhere cool. If they are in plastic then make a hole in the bags or put them in a large paper carrier bag.
Use them over the next few weeks.
You can put them halved and whole in casseroles and with mince.
Roasted with chicken pieces, onions, herbs etc . Add what your family like.
Use for a potato salad.
Just boil them with salt and mint, serve with fish .
Pop chopped up into soup.
Boil and then sauté.
Lots of ways to use them......but mashing ISNT one of them!

You're not supposed to put potatoes in the fridge.

If they're new I would cut them in half/quarters and roast with a little oil and herbs of choice (or just salt and pepper). You could also make miniature jacket potatoes. Either way make up a lot of it and freeze.

They will keep for a few weeks if you cut open the polythene bags so they don't get damp, and keep them somewhere cool and dark.
I don't think they will mash well. but you could cook them in lots of other ways.

Never store potatoes in the fridge. A cardboard box in the cupboard would be better.

Make a massive tartiflette

Then a massive tortilla patata

Look up a German recipe potato salad, it is really delicious, I could probably eat it for lunch every day for a week!
