healthy snacks for my boy

Hey,

I'm looking for healthy kids snacks as a substitute for sweets and chocolate for my little one, he seems addicted to it. He's only 7 so I don't want to force him to eat broccoli all time. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've got too many things going on atm so I'm looking for something regular and easy to buy or to make!

Thanks,

Jenny.

Why does he need snacks? make sure he has a decent meal and that should keep him going until the next meal. I am not being goady, but I find this need for children to constantly graze very odd, there is nothing wrong with being hungry before your next meal, and a 7 year old has a stomach size well able to cope with eating enough to keep them satisfied. Make sure he is not thirsty, as confusing thirst with hunger is common, but snacks should be occasional treats, not built into the system. no wonder we have a nation of overweight kids with eating anxiety!

i recently started getting a subscription from this company called chewymoon, they send a healthy kids snack box which has ten different snacks in every two weeks straight to my door. my girls love it, plus its stress free for me!

That actually sounds good! Has anyone else given them a try?

If you are looking for a sweet snack I would suggest dried fruit or fruit crisps. Though you have to watch out as some of the fruit crisps on the market have a lot of added sugar. Once brand I found was Spare Fruit. That was actually in my subscription box like one of the other mums said above! That brand doesn't have any added sugar. You also can give a small portion because they fill you up.

Fruit, natures sweeties Smile
My son always loved raisins when he was little.
We used to make salty popcorn, you can get the dried sweetcorn kernels from the likes of Holland & Barrett, bit of salt and oil in pan, with the lid on!, lol.

Rice cakes. My DC will happily eat the plain ones but sometimes I getTesco caramel or salt and vinegar ones. Occasionally I spread plain ones with fruit yogurt.
Popcorn (be careful, not all are healthy!)
Yogurt. I put frubes in the freezer and they love these any time of year!
Mini pots of hummus with breadsticks.
Cereal - my DC eat Cheerios/mini weetabix/shredded wheat dry like they would do with crisps!
Sugar free jelly
