What's your favourite Chinese takeaway dish?

We've just had a Chinese from the local (expensive - there's one revolting looking one and one quite expensive one) restaurant. We have Chinese approx twice a year and I feel I never quite order the right thing.

Tonight I had crispy noodles with chicken and black bean sauce and DH had sweet and sour pork. He loved his. Mine was fine but not worth the cost. We also shared a seaweed and prawn toast, both great.

What do you order? I need to find the love for Chinese food!

We've got a great Chinese restaurant in the city centre, we always have crispy duck with pancakes to start then soft shell crab, spicy prawns and spicy beef then I get noodles or egg fried rice and I love prawn crackers

Ma Po Tofu is my favourite. Excellent mix of tofu and beef.

Chow mein (special is the best)
Special fried rice
Ribs
Beef in black bean sauce
Duck pancakes
Seaweed
Sweet and sour prawn balls
Salt and Pepper Squid

The problem is you just need to try stuff - every restaurant/takeaway does things differently and as much as I love the above dishes from my local if I go elsewhere sometimes they are horrible and other dishes are nice. Go somewhere with a buffet or share a big set meal with friends and you can try new things.

Our local restaurant is brilliant - they don't use MSG and it's all cooked as healthily as possible.

Starters - I love satay chicken skewers, chicken or pork dumplings (steamed or fried, not fussy!) and seaweed.

Mains, cashew chicken, honey chicken, crispy chilli chicken, sweet and sour chicken. Ours also does some Thai and some Korean dishes, so a prawn pad thai, nasi goreng or a red curry are other options.

Kung p.o. chicken
Fried rice
Beef in black bean sauce
Various prawn starters

I find places really vary and often it's just too gloopy and oily. I'm often disappointed, but then I have lived in China and have high expectations!

Crispy Duck with pancakes. My local Chinese also does Crispy Lamb which is lovely. I like really spicy dishes, love cashews as well. Spicy chilli aubergine is a favourite.

Vegetarian fried rice. Love, love, love Chinese fried rice, must be the combination of slightly wok charred rice and MSG!
