Hello, currently I don’t eat much fish at all! I have never been a fan of strong tasting ones such as smoked salmon etc. We want to try for a baby in the new year and I have spoken to a nurse who gave me some advice including healthy diet. I am not over weight and I’m pretty active but one of the things the nhs advise is 2 portions of fish per week and I currently eat zero! I want to start introducing fish into my diet more to give any baby we have the best start and also to improve my diet for myself so can anyone recommend recipes with preferably no mushrooms

Oily fish are the best ones but they tend to have stronger flavours. Perhaps as a compromise, aim for one portion of oily fish such as mackerel or salmon, and have white fish for the second portion.
I love this salmon recipe, but usually leave out the pomegranate! www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/one-pan-tikka-salmon-jewelled-rice

I love this spicy/fruity curry. You can use any cheap white fish.

quickest and easiest fish recipe .
Skinned fillet of cod or haddock . Line grill pan with foil, and lay fish upside down in it . Salt and pepper, with a little bit of butter . Grill for 3-4 minutes, fairly close to top of grill. Take out, flip the fish to right side up, a little more salt and pepper. Lay thinly sliced cheese ( a nice cheddar for example) to mostly cover the fish. Pop back under the grill, and let the cheese melt ( about another 3- 4 minutes) . Its done once the cheese is bubbling .

Favourites in our household: fish risotto, tuna pasta bake, salmon with veggies (can be a substitute for a meat joint if doing a roast) and prawn stir fry. I also sometimes cook white fish and top with onion and melted cheese, parsley sauce or homemade tomato sauce containing a little onion, herbs and anything else we fancy.
