Christmas Cake Question

Going to soak my dried fruit overnight tonight, it's Stir Up Sundat tomorrow!!

I usually use vanilla vodka but though I might try Amaretto this year.

Would that work?

Yes, I reckon amaretto would work well. Any strong spirit is ok I think, your choice just subtly alters the end flavour.

I like this recipe which doesn't need overnight soaking & feed it with whatever is to hand. Haven't got time to make it this weekend though, will be next hopefully.

I did Amaretto a couple of years ago and it just wasn’t as good as brandy IMO.

It’s sweeter and it doesn’t have the same depth as brandy iykwim.

Oh no taffeta !!

Amaretto it will have to be.......we have nothing else in the drinks cabinet.

I use ameretto (Delia says three tablespoons, I use 10) and it’s amazing! I wouldn’t use anything else. Mine has been soaking since last week - I’m not sure anyone will be legal to drive after a slice of my cake this year... Grin
