Hi I have a 1kg gammon joint. How do I go about cooking it in the slow cooker?

You can add an inch of water or a can of coke (or anything full fat fizzy really). I'd pop it on medium till tea time.

8 hours on low or 5 1/2 on high.
I cook mine, covering it with 1l of apple juice and two or three scoops of apricot jam. I also add BBQ spice mix from Morrison's.

I ended up with water and bay leaves and also mustard and brown sugar on the joint.

Worked wonders!

You can just put it in and do nothing also. For next time if you're rushing. It releases juices which I like to drink with a spoon

I put it in a saucepan with cold water, bring it to the boil and then chuck the water away to get rid of excess salt. I put the gammon out of the way in the slow cooker (mine has to be on for twenty minutes to heat up). I rinse the saucepan out and pour in a bottle of ginger ale, and bring it to the boil. Pour over the gammon in the now to temp slow cooker, and set it on low to cook for seven hours.

Mine never ever stays in one piece, but it tastes so good I forgive it. If there's not quite enough ginger ale to cover it, I top it up with boiling water from the kettle.

Put gammon in slow cooker, tip in tin of cider, put lid on and wander off. Fantastic flavour.

I put mine in with a tin of pineapple. I throw away the pineapple afterwards as absorbs the meat juices.
