Sound of Music cake - your advice please!

So my 5 year old daughter is having a Sound of Music party for her birthday and has requested a 'Sound of Music' cake...
I was hoping I could find little SOM figurines online (of the kind I did for a Frozen cake for her sister's 5th birthday a couple of years ago) and bung them on top of a 'mountain' cake and be done...
...but I can't find anything like that for some reason!
Any thoughts on how I could create something? Ideas gratefully received (and yes I do know this is kind of ridiculous!).
Thanks!

Not ridiculous at all. I make and decorate cakes as a hobby and love themed ones.

Have you looked at pinterest? What are your fondant modelling skills like? If you don't fancy making a figure, you could cut one out and stick it to card like this one:i.pinimg.com/originals/84/92/ce/8492ce7bf35cf1544beb3b103916bda7.jpg

I think a grass and flower covered mountain would be good with the mountain and Maria cutouts. You could use green fondant or a buttercream with a grass tip like this: i.pinimg.com/originals/5d/6b/51/5d6b511507fff91a4226619977e6b201.jpg

Ah thank you! I could give it a try with fondant modelling but very much a novice so something simple would be great. Those pinterests are a great start - how would you get the grass to look like that in the second one?
Thanks again!

I do have a nozzle for piping buttercream grass, but I have cheated and used green fondant, which I push through a garlic press (making sure it doesn't smell of garlic first Smile). It works quite well...

A garlic press! What a brilliant idea. Thanks so much for the tip!

There are loads of tutorials on YouTube for making fondant figures, so you might be able to adapt one to look like Maria. Or just do a mountain, with snow and music notes, with flowers and grass maybe? Perhaps a guitar...

Btw I love that your DD wants a Sound of Music cake for her 5th birthday - so much more original than the usual requests at that age Smile.

Would she like a Lonely Goatherd themed cake - there are goat figurines on eBay.

Oh lots more great ideas. I'll have a look for goats. Easier than 7 children!
And I think the mountain suggestion is fab...with a couple of musical notes at least and a guitar!
Thanks everyone

Could you do a box with brown icing toed with string and then have a few of my favourite things around it or in it?? Kitten models with oversized whiskers etc?

We did a competition to make a favourite things hat. I did girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes using tiny dolls with dresses made from squares of white material with holes cut for the arms and blue ribbon tied round the waist. It was extremely easy and I won! You could add a brown package and string, a plastic dog, a bee etc.

You could do a hillside with all of the favourite things/goats/edelweiss/guitar/musical notes all around the cake
