Please suggest ideas for a nutritious, no-mess and (preferably!) tasty breakfast that I can pack for my children to eat in the back of the car.

Egg breakfast muffins. I've never actually tried them but recently read about them and sounds perfect for you. They might need a bit of kitchen roll to wipe their fingers

Bircher muesli. Leave it in the fridge overnight for a highly portable breakfast. I'm still smarting about having a tub of it confiscated at Stamsted airport. Bastards.

I'm not car-proud but neither am I going to risk having milk on a car journey. With my less-than-smooth driving, it could go everywhere through no fault of the children's and there's not much that's worse than the smell of spilt milk!
Yes they do love their cereal and dd has been known to eat it dry! But it won't keep me full for very long without some protein so I think I'll go for your suggestion of dried fruit with nuts. Perhaps add some Cheerios into it too! Thanks

Slices of frittata, sandwich, snack selection - cheese cubes, bread sticks, grapes etc, quiche, anything portable.

We used to leave Cheshire after boiled eggs and then stop around Watford for a sausage toastie en route to Dover for a channel crossing. It used to help pace dd as we used to have a meal on the boat.

There is no better breakfast when travelling than:
a hard boiled egg
a (veggie) sausage roll
a banana
a hot cross bun, teacake or slice of malt loaf

Banana pancakes. Make them really thin & you can add fillings & roll them up. Or normal pancakes.
