Anyone have a decent soda bread recipe? Mine is too crumbly and tough

Or where am I going wrong? I've tried lots of different recipes and they're all either too crumbly to be sliced, or hard as a brick. I was at a village fair in the summer and tasted the most divine treacle bread. It was quite cake like and amazing. Unfortunately I was only passing through and never got the recipe. So any decent recipes or tips?
