Adding chorizo to already cooked stew

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question but I'm new enough to cooking with chorizo. I have some bean & vegetable stew in the freezer which I'm planning to defrost and reheat but I want to add some sliced chorizo to it. Do I need to do anything to the chorizo first - fry? Or just simmer it all together for a few minutes? TIA.

I would just chuck it in and simmer. My kids prefer it added last (stew, paella etc.) as it keeps its flavour and doesn't change the flavour of the rest of the dish too much.
