Colin The Caterpillar recipes?

My boyfriend recently said that he had always wanted a colin the caterpillar cake as a child, but never got one. So I would really like to have a go at making one when his birthday comes around soon!

What are your recipes/thoughts on how best to put it together? Smile

I love home baking, but if he wants a Colin, he probably wants a 'real' one.
Can't you buy one, then do some kind of Colin-themed meal to go with?

Right to be completely honest I don't know much about the 'real' colin myself! I never had one either.

Where would I get a real one? Any supermarket?

Go to your nearest m&s find Colin, take him to a till and pay. Surprise boyfriend. Homemade Colin won't be the same.

Supermarket or m&s. They usually cost about a fiver (people fight over his sickly chocolate face Grin).

This is Colin, the cake, not the boy.

I think he is about £10 in m and s or you can get the mini ones for about £2 for 5.

Agree, buy it in m&s. I always wanted shop bought cake as a kid but never got it, would be gutted to ask for Colin now and get a home made one. Birthday boy has dibs on the face too.

You can get very similar in Sainsbury's for a tenner

Cyril the caterpillar was six quid in my local Sainsbury's last week... I'm sure Tesco used to do one too...

I am not sure if 'Cyril' would be acceptable Grin

Ok I will try to get a colin from m and s and give him dibs on the face!

I'll be thrilled if m and s do a cheaper version, I want one forces birthday and also only found the £40 one!

The m and s one is vastly superior to the Tesco version etc. Go to any m and s food. They're about a tenner. Amazing. Don't get Connie the caterpillar which is a new one which is rank.

Wow what's wrong with Connie?! Just curious...

She has strawberry buttercream instead of chocolate. Vastly inferior to the sublimeness of Colin!

Ooh, I have to disagree! I much prefer strawberry buttercream. But partner likes chocolate most, so chocolate it will be.
