Can I feed a 17 month old beef casserole made with a lot of wine?

Will go in the oven for 3 hours, so I would guess the alcohol would evaporate. BUT.... there is the best part of a bottle in there.

What do you think?

I would go for it - I have fed my two DS's with wine fuelled casserole sice they were about 10months.

I think most of it will have cooked off, plus you won't be giving him a HUGE portion will you? I've given 16month DS beef in beer casserole before no with no ill effects

Yes - I did with mine and they were fine

Yep no probs.

The alcohol will have evaporated. Even if a TINY bit remained, it wouldn't do him-her any harm, just make em sleep a bit.

Says a mother who drank gin at her father's funeral, then breastfed her son.

Umm... oh dear. Now I'm starting to think I'm a bit too gung ho! I fed my 17 mth old a beef casserole with the best part of a bottle of wine in last week! She thoroughly enjoyed it!

It too was slow cooked for 3 hours, I didn't even think about it - so long as no nuts our children eat the same meals as we do.

Have since read replies and now not concerned!

Oh...I was just about to say...the alcohol will have mostly evaporated so it'll be ok.

Go ahead! I always use Vermouth when I make a risotto - even if it's only for my DS! The alcohol all burns off in the cooking process.

Lucky kid! Sounds delish!

Def go for it. Reading this, I just remembered that for lunch yesterday, DS2 (6 months, 3 weeks) had spag bol, into which DH poured a good splosh of red wine. He loved it, had a good nap afterwards, and was REALLY cheerful all afternoon...!!

I'm imagining jars of baby food available in the following:

Steak n stout pie
beef in red wine casserole
chicken with white wine and tarragon
Stroganoff with brandy sauce

Maybe we are breeding the next generation of alcopop drinkers....

Yes. Alcohol will be gone. My SIL is VERY fussy about stuff like this and yet was happy for me to serve her kids inc one 18mth old, the "beef coq au vin" I made with a full bottle of wine.
