Frozen Chicken - how would I know if it has gone bad?

hi, have defrosted an unopened pack of chicken (been in freezer for 7 months). Have googled and generally seems to be ok but quality may deteriorate after 6 months... But how would I know if it has gone bad? there was a smell when I opened pack (not dissimilar to smell of another pack of chicken which has only been frozen for a couple of months) but I'm not sure if I know what bad chicken smells like.... No slime or tacky touch.... Am not sure I have enough chicken if I ditch the 7 month one but equally not keen on being sick all night... Bad Chicken Clues anyone?

Sorry for late reply, I expect by this stage you've either eaten it or binned it!

From what you say the 7 months defrosted chicken sounds fine. I've eaten chicken that's been in the freezer way longer than that with no ill effects. You'd know if it was off, chicken that's gone off is unmistakeable, it smells revolting.
