So normally when I read these would you eat this out of date ...... I usually reply to go for it! But I have my own dilemma! Cream cheese - unopened- dated 4/4 - would you eat it - I want to make cream cheese frosting for carrot cake so it will be eaten by close family (who like me don't mind eating out of date stuff grin)

Taste it, smell it, look at it. If all ok and your not in a vulnerable group - eat it.

I would open it up and smell it.

If it didn't stink I probably would

I'd be happy with that provided the foil isn't blown and there's no sucky farty noise when it's opened.

Nope. Never muck around with dairy products personally.

Yes absolutely - if it looks and smells fine I'd taste it. And if that's fine too then it's definitely fine to use.

Cooked cheese cake or not? If it gets cooked I'd have no concerns.

I would. If it's Philadelphia- that stuff would survive the apocalypse. Some other brands don't seem as, er, robust as Philadelphia.

You won't be heating it for frosting though and I would worry about it if it weren't all eaten fairly sharpish.
