Easy but impressive cake

I have a special occasion coming up and plan to make cake for work.

One will be this Pimms cake which I've made before and is lovely.

I need to serve 30, so need another similar one. I like this one because it's pretty but doesn't require any artistic talent to decorate.

You could make a basic chocolate cake, fill it with chocolate buttercream and cover it with malteasers like this.

I'd go for a simple chocolate cake topped with ganache, easy to make but if you use good quality dark chocolate it will taste great.

A bîg carrot cake with cream cheese frosting decorated with fondant carrots and chopped walnuts. Fairly fail safe, it's difficult to make a dry carrot cake!

I can make carrot cake, not at all sure about fondant carrots though Grin

There are loads of cakes on this blog. Everyone I've made has turned out great. The biscoff one is really tasty, and the crunchie one went down well too

Jamie olivers lemon meringue cake. Bloody amazing! Really doesn't need the merengue topping in my opinion!

Easy but impressive cake

As already mentioned by mydietstartsmonday, Nigellas Guinness cake is always a hit. Plus, its easy to slice thin slices and serve lots of people as you don't need much.

I would do a Brooklyn Blackout Cake - it looks spectacular, and is pretty simple to make - and best of all it doesn't require any artistic talent!!

really easy chocolate cake

You can decorate it with aero bubbles, smarties or something similar to make it look even better. It's the easiest cake I've ever made and the ganache always comes out lovely and smooth and glossy (I'm not the most precise when baking, so this is impressive).

This one is nice and easy. The white chocolate cream is also amazing on a simple chocolate cake!
