Does anyone use a mandolin for chopping veg?

I've bought the Salter Mandolin, on offer from Sainsbury's, but haven't taken it out of the box as I'm not convinced I would use it. Thanks.

I do on occasion if I'm batch cooking but other that that, it rarely sees the light if day.

Yes, they're really amazing! You can mini-baton a whole carrot in 30 secs. Mine has a guard so no injuries. Goes in dishwasher too.

I mainly use mine for potato gratin and pickled cucumber.

Yes - leeks, potatoes (for gratin, boulangère, top of hot pot etc) hidden vegetable sauces, etc.

I have one that I use almost exclusively to slice cabbage for coleslaw - but it's worth it just for that I find. Occasionally try other things.

Lost count of the number of injuries I've had. My has a rubbish guard. Once cooked dauphinois pots with both hands in food bags because the blood kept leaking out of plasters!! grin
