Quick question- food safety

Made a pearl barley stew with tomatoes and chorizo last night. Loads leftover but in the melee today, didn't refrigerate ... It's been cold in the kitchen and the stew had a lid on... If I reheat it for ages (ie boil) - will it be safe to eat? Or is it like rice and a big no no? Thanks!!

Excellent news. Hate throwing food out and DP has a heart attack if anything is thrown away that isn't crawling to the bin itself. Cheers
