Rice confusion!! Can you just replace one with another?

Hi all,

Just hoping for a bit of advice! I'm wanting to replace long grain rice in a much loved recipe with brown rice as I'm trying to increase the amount of whole grain I eat. Is it simply a case of switching or will cooking times be affected? I've attached a link to the recipe below in case it helps:

Thanks Smile

Brown rice takes a bit longer. I'm sure it's on BBC good food sight somewhere

Thanks! So would you just substitute it for the same amount of long grain rice but allow for more cooking time?

I think I might have lied about the BBC good food site thing!!

Sorry!! I looked but can't find it.

Yes. Same amount as you would white rice.

It's a slightly nutty taste (in my opinion) and others say it's got a harder bite to it. Which I've found means people generally eat less of it.

Thanks Dodo I'll give it ago! Hopefully the other flavours will mask the taste if I don't like it! Wink

I always use brown rice as my family prefer it. It takes longer and will require more cooking liquid, but it will taste as good, if not better!
