what are some of the other good non-meat sources of protein??? Are there any fruit/vegetables that are particularly higher than others???

Ooooh the boys LOVE prawns........but actually this is for DH........his 'I'm going to be a daddy again' routine is a new fitness regime involving lots of high protein food and weights.........and boy is he starting to look good for it . I'm already indulging him in packs of sausages, and tins of corned beef, not to mention so many eggs I think I may as well buy some chickens LOL - but was wondering what vegetable/vegetarian options there were other than the blatantly obvious so he doesn't get 'bored' of the same old things.....

thing is he's only been doing it for about 1 1/2 weeks - but he was already in pretty decent shape - just needed toning up....so the weights (and skipping rope, and hand grip thingies) are already starting to show results as there wasn't much 'extra' to get rid of.

I don't mind indulging him in some high protein foods.....as it's a lot cheaper than him joining a gym LOL.

Millet is the only grain that is also a complete protein if what is written in my superfood book is correct, most other plant based protein products have to be combined to give you a complete protein, so you could try that? It has a taste you need to get used to though, a bit bitter... (I add it to things like spag bol and shepherd's pie to reduce the red meat content)

Chick peas are good, as are nuts.

Quinoa is the only grain with all 8 amino acids, millet is fairly high protein but not quite there. Nuts are very good, also full of vitamins and minerals and fats that protect the heart (good if you're giving his lots of sausages). Also tofu, miso, tempeh etc. Miso and tofu soup with Wakame is actually a very high protein, low fat snack and a doddle to make.

So my book is wrong then? Oh well...it is quite old so that probably explains its inaccuracy!
