Help or sympathy please. Can't hide it as he won't eat any food that is mixed together. He will eat broccoli and very occasionally apples but that is now it apart from a small drink of blueberry juice in the morning. I have tried serving up food that it mixed together but he just refuses the whole plate. Anyone been through this and come out the other side? When do they start eating normally?! I'm not as bothered as I used to be but am concerned as I would like him to eat some fruit and veg even if just a little. Meanwhile his little sister tucks into everything with gusto apart from one or two things (long may that last.......)

Sorry can't help but can offer loads of sympathy. I have a 5yr old DD who will eat all fruit and veg offered and a 2.5yr old DS who will eat raisins! I can just about hide a couple of slices of carrot and a tiny bit of broccoli in a casserole. But he won't eat anything! Have even resorted to pureeing 1/2 can tomatoes and 1/2 can of baked beans and adding them to gravy!!! He looks at all fruit & veg with suspicion. Don't understand it as they were weaned exactly the same. xx

Another one here...my 2 y.o. will eat apples but no other fruit and veg. I hide veg in his main meals, for e.g. he eats broccoli quiche, spinach and cheese filled filo parcels (in fact he'll eat almost anything wrapped in filo pastry - I whizz up casseroles and use them as the filling and he will eat that while his 5 y.o. brother has the casserole as normal), pizza or pasta with home-made sauce with tomato and lots of other veg mixed. He will not touch any other fruit or veg although I always put some on his plate in case one day he does. My ds1 was similar and with a lot of persistence on our part he now eats a good range of veg and some fruit, but I think ds2 is more determined. When I was worried about ds1 I started giving him multivitamins which he still has. ds2 is too young for those at the moment though.

FWIW, my sister was a bit like this as a child. I think she occasionally ate apple but she certainly never ate any veg. She now eats almost anything and is apparently very healthy!

My ds1 has asd and huge anxiety surrounding food - so far the different things that have worked are fruit picking - now eats all berries after last summer, cow and gate toddler bars are made from an apple and carrots. I make no sugar muffins with evrything from bananas to mango in them ('vegetarian cooking without' by barbara cousins). He eats peas as 'green drops from greenland' after repeated reding of the charlie and lola book 'i will not ever never eat a tomato'!
a mumsnetter told me to fry thin sticks of squash dipped in flour and that's 'special chips. inever ever mention the food on his plate, but put tiny amounts of the veg we're having on his plate and he has tried carrotand sweetcorn that way. I do give him boots kids multivits with calcium and iron though.
oh today we had tescos the finest pure orange juice lollies after tea because my juice ones always fall off the sticks - jelly made with fruit juice is nice too.hope this helps!

My son used to avoid all fruit. He will now have apples, bananas and melon. He ate bananas after he was allowed to peel them himself. He ate melon after I cut it into 'smiles'.

Veg - he will eat carrots, peas, corn, broc, cauliflower, peppers, cucumbers. Snap peas (he will eat the insides only) and green beans he'll nibble at.

He physically gags if he eats mushrooms and won't even try cabbage.

But with veg, my staple is to make hidden veg sauce that I puree up and use on pasta, rice, cous cous whatever.

Help!!!!
I have a 4 year old & almost 3 year old & both of them are mega fussy eaters.
I find it so frustrating, as we all eat everything in our house.
I have tried hiding veg, I've tried frying instead of boiling etc, but absolutely nothing works.
My 4 year old will eat apples & grapes, but that is it.
My 3 year old is refusing all fruit now!
They will not eat any veg & won't even eat mashed potatoes.
The only thing they will eat is:
Sausages
Bits of Meat
Yorkshire Puddings
Cheese & cheese strings
Chocolate Mousse
Chicken Nuggets
Chips
Smiley Faces
Ham or Cheese sandwiches
Ritz biscuits
Noodles
Crisps/quavers
Breadsticks
Cereals
Please, can anyone help me, as I am at the end of my tether as I cannot think what to make them to eat for their dinners.
They refuse point blank to even lick the veg, let alone taste it, so I cannot do what you see on these "House of Tiny Tearaways" & "Honey, we're Killing the Kids" where they get the kids to lick a veg, then bite it - they will not eat anything that even comes into contact with veg on their plates.
I do offer it, but they really refuse it & I have even tried hiding sweetcorn inside a smiley face, but they always find it & then will not eat the rest of their dinners.
