Main - naice roast (with gf gravy - use cornflour or Bisto Best), or chicken traybake? What would you want to do without her restrictions?

Pudding - gluten and dairy free brownies with Booja Booja ice cream. Poached pears in red wine or peaches in white white. Tom Kerrigans orange cake

Gok wans honey and soy glazed chicken using gluten free sauce with spicy cucumber salad and sticky or fried rice - yum. Not sure if it's dinner party enough but fits the difficult criteria and is a family fav here in fact having it tonight

focus on what you can have - no wheat/gluten may sound daunting, but you can have rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes and all vegetables & fruits, meats etc.

Be careful of stock cubes (gluten) but you could make risotto with salad.
Steak with potato gratin and salad?
I will often cook Mexican when covering different food preferences/allergies.

I am cooking chicken curry atm, my dh has no nightshades, gluten or dairy and there's not much he can have.
Why not something with a tomato based sauce.

Indian is easy to make dairy (no ghee) and wheat (have rice and use gram flour for pakora etc).
Mexican is more tricky unless you make your own corn tortilla: most bought ones include wheat. Some tortilla chips are Ok and some taco shells etc but do check.
Easiest of all is classic British food: meat, veg, potatoes, in whatever format you like, just use oil not butter, avoid milk and cheese and check that you don't accidentally add wheat in stock cubes or bought sauces/gravy.

main courses are actually easier than you think - all meat, fish, vegetables, rice and potatoes are GF and DF. just watch the stock cubes, mustards. read ALL labels - its amazing the amount of crap that gets put in unexpected places.

maybe slow roast lamb (moroccan or greek style) with boulangere potatoes? seasonal veg? check the stock for the potatoes but the knorr stock pots (buy in supermarket) are GF and DF.

maybe an almond/olive oil cake for desert? with a sorbet?

or honey cake:

lots of options!

Ooh - some lovely ideas here. I think I was being a bit dim - it seemed a bit daunting and I had ruled potatoes out for some reason (doh!). Thank you all

Swedish Glacé ice cream is dairy free, yummy, and easily available. Booja booja is delicious but expensive and only in some places. Sorbets are also usually dairy free.

Think about what is still and option, potatoes, rice, quinoa, meat and fish, fruit and veg. As a PP said, what would you usually make? And then work out what might need to change from that.

Look here for puddings, and just do a normal main course with rice or potatoes as the carb. I tend to do pulled lamb with sweet potato mash or just roast some of the sweet potato and butternut squash cubes that you buy in supermarkets.

i think its normal to feel daunted if you arent used to it. my MIL (bless her) still panics if she has to cook for me. the internet is full of GF/DF ideas. my only tip would be to avoid chocolate mousse using avocado. a very kind friend fed it to me once, it was truly awful.

Thank you all - I am going to make a Greek lamb (slow roast over potatoes with loads of garlic and lemon) and the nigella clementine cake. Am also going to try some of the other suggestions here on other nights!

Tip: if you are short of time on the clementine cake, I have previously microwaved clementines (and other citrus fruit) in a bit of water for about 10 minutes and achieved much the same effect as the two hour boil...

Thanks - I will be pretty short of time so that is really helpful!
