That's it really used to be an avid reader/contributor when it first started but slacked off towards end of last year. Would really like to get back into it come September when the kids go back to school.

Hellooooo, it's been a while, that was a nice reminder. Grin. I think we all drifted off last year but agree it would be good to resurrect it. I have a copy of Fresh India by Meera Sodha that I'm itching to cook from but could do with a kick in the right direction.

Anyone else out there?

Sounds a great idea to me, think I have seen Fresh India in my local library too and my cook book fetish means I've plenty of others I'd like to cook from more.

I'm still here :)

I was just about to say "I don't need this Fresh India of which you speak, as I have Made in India which I fell in love with because of cookery book club" when I realised that it was Meera Sodha so.... what? She has a new cookbook? I must have it!! Grin

Ha ha guys, now I will need to buy fresh India too! Glad to see some people still here. So shall we go for Fresh India and then anyone got any other recommendations for September or how about we do the Sainsbury magazine?

I am definitely up for Fresh India. Plus maybe recap of Made in India at the same time? I made the chicken pistachio curry again at the weekend....

Fresh India, recap of Made in India and Sainsburys mag sounds good to me. Is the new mag out now or can I put off going in there till next week?

I've been making the fish curry on a weekly basis since we did MiI, with variations depending on what I've got. It is a big hit here.

I'm in! I was pregnant pause before- I don't think I'd changed my name on the last threads but I've been here from the start.

I recently had my first made in India fail actually (having cooked 60%of the book that's pretty good). Homemade chappatis. It could be my lack of skill rather than the recipe but for me they were bland. I inagine the shop bought are full of sugar but they are better than mine. Grin

60% wow! How was the chappati texture? I'm okay with bland as they are nice brushed with garlic butter, but when I have tried they come out too hard.

Couldn't get either book in my local library (know they have at least one of them). Looking at the Amazon reviews I think I will buy one/both though.

Texture was soft but rougher than shop bought- I suspect because the shop bought use more refined white flour to cater to popular taste.

Yes 60% - it's one of my favourite books and has become the only book I go to for Indian. It's mainly the sundries and desserts I haven't done. The starters, Eggs and poultry, meat, pulses and pickles are All brilliant and quite easy recipes. ( though some take time)

I'm definitely going to buy fresh India as the vegetarian recipes in made in India are so good.

Ooh yay, me. I have bought Fresh India but haven't cooked anything from it yet, in fact I've been pretty rubbish at cooking in general recently so this should be the inspiration I need!

I'm heading to sainsburys shortly -just need to write a shopping list, and will pick up the magazine while I'm there. Will there be a new thread or are we just going to post on this one?

I bought fresh India too- I'm holding off on meal planning until it's here. I think a new thread may be better with the books in the name so that new people can join in if they have them. But I don't mind posting here if it's the general consensus. Smile

I just bought Fresh India and Made in India so should be ready to go soon (Amazon depending) I think it is best to have a new thread for the club, but happy to go with this one if easier.

Now I just need to figure out how to make space for 2 more cookbooks, the bookshelves are one in one out at the moment...
