Seriously. I just prepped 7 billion of them for a curryish thing, and they take forever, and for what? Gah.

did they kill your eyes?? as they stung mine like hell and took me ages to peel them!!

You do know if you put them in boiling water first they are easier to peel don't you ??

The taste nice. they also stay together better when you slow cook them

shallots taste so much better than onions, but they do make your eyes water more. I always use them (but then dp prepares all the veg )

not worth it for a curry imo

v good in more european-type dishes where they're a main flavour ingredient

Hadn't known about the boiling water, will try that next time.

They didn't make my eyes water, but I didn't cut them up - kept them whole.

I probably would normally use them in a European dish, but I had to use them up, and wanted to make a curry, so ...
