Can you make rice pudding from long grain rice. I can't find any short grain rice anywhere, and have a real hankering for long grain. If I boil it up in a saucepan first, then put it in the oven, will it eventuaaly soften? or is there something fundamentally different? basmati rice wouldn't taste too odd, would it?

I wouldn't have thought long-grain rice would be sticky or soft enough - but I've never tried it. And yes, I think basmati would taste too odd!

Any rice, milk, in a big pan, on the hob, 30 mins later. Yummy pudding.
