I use the microwave LOADS...should I be worried?

I make good homemade food for my ds, but I do a lot of re-heating and cooking of veg in the microwave. For speed mainly.

Most of his meals are microwaved.

Should I be worried?! Excessive microwaves?!

Are... are microwaves dangerous? I didn't know... I use my microwave to heat up baked beans for my DS all the time! If it's any consolation he's fine?!

Erm, no, you're fine. So is your food and your DS.

How microwaves work

Microwaves are just radio waves. Anything warmer than absolute zero will emit microwaves including you. Even if you didn't use a microwave oven everything gets irradiated by the sun, broadcast radio, background cosmic radiation and the background radiation of the earth - so no.

Don't be embarrassed nappyrat, I am terrified of microwaves too. For reasons I don't really understand.

There's been so many scare stories it's hard to know what's what. Afaik there really is no risk to the food, jiggling molecules to create heat shouldn't be a problem. If a microwaves faraday cage fails it could emit microwaves outside the cooker. I've been told you can check this by using your phone. DONT turn on microwave, simply put phone in and try to call it, it shouldn't get reception in there

Only from tinfoil hatters or judgey-pants folk who wander over from a certain slightly cliquey and judgey food forum which may be closing.

Don't be Blush nappy. My pharmacist and radiographer mates ( we all went to college together) both refuse to use them. They are obviously intelligent, respected professionals. There's a lot of conflicting advice around them.

Personally I use my microwave with gay abandon. I don't think it's dangerous. But I wouldn't call those who do tin foil hat wearers.
