I'm after ideally protein rich recipes for smoothies I can have for breakfast. I used to make one with almond milk, some kind of peanut butter that isn't peanut, banana, cinnamon etc with some chia etc. anyone share some recipes that isn't 5 oranges, 3 apples type recipes?

Tia

I sometimes make one for lunch with avocado as the main ingredient. Juice some green veg and fruit - apples, cucumber, maybe add a little piece of ginger root and then add the avocado and blitz it.

Not sure how rich in protein, but I have:
cup strawberries (british are best)
1/4 cup rolled oats
tea spoon sunflower seeds
table spoon of dreid cranberries
an apple
100ml coconut milk (alpro, 20calories)
topped up with ice and water,
I use a nutribullet.
This keeps me full till lunch, and tastes (to me) like old strawberry haagen daaz!

Mermaid I like avocado so that's doable, would that consistency be ok adding chia seeds and the like?

I haven't tried adding chia seeds to it so that might just be something you could experiment with? I do use chia seeds in overnight oats, though. They tend to go a bit gloopy if you leave them too long.

200ml almond milk
100g banana (I freeze chunks of banana)
50g frozen cherries
10g raw cacao powder
20g cashew butter (or other nut butter)

That is about 11g protein.

I like

4 tsp raw cacao powder
2 tsp chia seeds
1/4 - 1/2 a lime, scrubbed, skin on
Small handful of cashews
Pack the cup loosely with spinach
Fill with either water or cold green tea
Raw honey if you need it, to taste

Or

4 tsp raw cacao powder
1 orange, flesh only - perhaps use a little of the outer skin for extra zestiness
1/2 a small avocado
1 small tsp chia seeds
Spinach to loosely fill any remaining space in the cup
Water
Honey to taste

Or

Watermelon, packed almost to the top
Fresh mint leaf
1 tsp chia seeds
Water or cold green tea

Link to Deliciously Ella breakfast smoothie recipes. I haven't tried any of these yet but they look good. I have her books and so far have made quite a few of the dishes, all delicious (and very healthy) so far. I'm battling CFS so anything that helps me to feel well is given a go :)

If you soak cashews ir almonds overnight in water they plump up and blitz well in a smoothie to add protein and texture. Fave in our family is mum's carrot and apple juice with ginger. Blitz oats, nuts or rice cakes with the juice for extra body.

Well, you might give this recipe a try:

  • 1/2 cup of raspberries
  • 1/2 cup of blackberries
  • 1 cup of vanilla yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • Optional: milk

There are a number of smoothie recipes here: www.findmeagift.co.uk/topics/ultimate-collection-of-smoothie-recipes/

There's a great breakfast smoothie called the Coco Oat Smoothie that uses rolled oats- filling but a good on-the-go alternative to cereal!
