Just that really, am 35 weeks pregnant and batch cooking. Have a pack of mince in the freezer I need to use up - can I make a chilli with it and then freeze? Or is this a big no no? I'm never sure. Generally very lax about this sort of thing but thought I should try to be a bit more responsible with a baby on the way.

Of course you can. defrost the mince - cook it - cool it - freeze it.

You can do this with anything.

I wouldn't re-freeze.

Really Twitter? I thought it was a big no no with meat. I do this with the odd veg like frozen peas.

Yep twitter is correct. There's no risk with this, it's fine

Congratulations on your baby.

My mum said it was fine to do but she is even more lax than I am so wanted second opinions smile

I do it all the time and have done for years. We've never been sick.

Yeah perfectly fine.
The only time you wouldn't re-freeze is if you just defrost it and then don't decide to use it, but once defrosted, as long as you cook it and cool it, you can freeze it.

Yes it's fine. You shouldn't re-freeze raw meat. But once it's cooked there's no problem.

It's a revelation!

Will make my life easier from now on too grin

Great thank you!!

Different freezing something after cooked than allowing something raw to thaw then re freeze

It's absolutely fine. Here's the bit from the NHS site if anyone is arguing.
