Pancakes for 1p each

Last time I posted my pancake recipe, it didn't meet with universal approval, I seem to remember! Smile

All you need, really, is s/raising flour and water. That's it.

Great for vegans, those with a dairy allergy and anyone who can't eat eggs. It's also great for the purse!

I'm just putting my recipe out there - if it's not to your taste, fine - just ignore.

Made these today with my family learning group. Went down a storm !

(The students also made pain au chocolat and a loaf of bread.)

Then I had three after dinner tonight. Don't have to wait until Pancake Tuesday! Grin

Good lord. You've discovered how to combine flour and water!

The food revolution must be nigh!

I'm planning to make these later on in the week after seeing the recipe on your blog.
Can I ask what you eat them with?

Hi MrsW

Just had a couple after dinner - with just the plain old lemon juice and sugar, I'm afraid. Although I do like them with my home-made marmalade. Smile

I must try the recipe on the right, as I type, for Nutella-stuffed American pancakes - I've got some home-made chocolate spread in the fridge.

Although I must say they look more like English pancakes than US ones! Confused

Have to say my general feeling on this is just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Are they not completely tasteless paste cakes?

I remember these from last time, still never tried, think I might have to now!

But they aren't in the least, Stealth! They are a complete revelation - they taste just like the traditional ones. I've just had three and if I'd had any more batter left, I'd have had another one! Smile

Do yourself a favour and try one, at least!

If you have plain flour and baking powder, just use 1 teaspoon BP to 100g of plain flour.

(Please excuse if I'm teaching my grandma to suck eggs! [I'll have to find a vegan alternative to that phrase!] Grin)

Ooh I will see if I have baking powder. It's the sort of stuff that takes up room in the cupboard until I need it and then is nowhere to be found. ..

Oh, I agree!

But add lemon juice and sugar - then they're gorgeous!

*Don't think I've ever had a naked pancake! Grin
