Quick question about beef and ale pie

I am cooking some cubed steak to make into a pie later. It is currently on the hob in a lidded pot with mushrooms, carrots, ale and stock (and a bit of flour and mustard powder).

Shall I leave it to cook slowly on the hob or put it in the oven? I do have a slow cooker but CBA to get it out today.

My gas hob doesn't do a low enough simmer so I always cook casseroles and mince in the oven at a low temperature. I have a gas oven and cook at gas mark 3, which is about 150 deg C.

My hob is induction and has settings from 1-12. It's currently on no 3 a low simmer.
