Best oven chips?

GingerPCatt · 11/12/2015 16:35

I'm stocking up our freezer with some easy meals. Normally I try to convince DH to make oven chips from scratch but I'd like to get some frozen ones in for when we can't be bothered. I haven't found any that I've really liked. DH likes chunky chips but I'm open to any suggestions. Many thanks!

Used to get these chips from Waitrose but they have changed their recipe and now contain additives - worth a go if you don't mind that.

We just had aunt Bessie's crinkle cut chips with egg, and they were divine!

Any really, as long as you have an air frier to cook them really nicely in. :)

McCains crinkle. There's also a little silvery packet out there for £2.99 for 2.5 small portions. They were superior but really the price. Reminds self to look at deep fat fryers again Grin

McCains French Fries. I know they're thin but they taste like chips and I won't buy any others now!

Aldi oven chips are the best I've ever had. They taste like proper chips.

The new Albert Bartlett ones! We used to have bog standard Sainsbury's ones but when we moved, they were rubbish in the new (old) gas oven. We went through loads til we settled on the Albert Bartlett ones.

have spent years trying to find the best oven chips and guess what? Iceland oven chips for a £1 a bag for 1.5 kg are easily as good as Mc Cains Shock. I never ever thought I would be saying that but tis true!

Tesco home style knock spots off MCCain IMO. They are also cheaper Grin

Thanks all! I'll try the Aldi ones first and then some others if we don't like those.
Iceland sweet potato fries are amazing if anyone is wondering. Smile

McCain do rapid fries as well. Shoestring type, but cook in 5 mins. With Walls 2 minute sausages. And egg. Bread and butter. Mmmmmm .

Not 100% healthy, but for a quick meal on the fly once in a while it's very tasty.

Oven chips cooked in the oven are MINGING and never cook evenly.

Get a Actifry and ANY chips come out perfectly crispy, golden and even :)
