Well DH said he would like to try Duck and I readily agreed. Bearing in mind he wanted to try it, I was the one who ordered it. He then did nothing about planning stuffing etc., half the pleasure for me is in the food planning.

Told DS (5) we were having duck and he said is that the one that looks like a long chicken ??

Decided it was pretty low on the ceremony factor, so cracked and rang the butcher this morning.

He laughed uproariously I am the third person this week to crack.

My mum phoned yesterday and said at my sister's nagging she is switching to turkey this year , provided my sister takes home the leftovers. But she is still doing a goose and a ham.

I do love goose we had it last year, but part of my childhood Christmas traditions is to come down on Boxing Day and have turkey and stuffing sandwiches on plastic white bread for breakfast.

There will be 20 (but one is my nephew who isn't weaned yet). There will be 10 of us staying there for 5 nights (including 4 under the age of 5), but she loves it. It stems from when we lived abroad and only came back to England once a year at christmas and all the family get together.

Keep going to your Mums until she shows signs of wanting to stop. Memories are made of these times.
