In need of help please oh wise ones!

Have 10 over for dinner end of the week mixed veggie/meaty (and yes it does need to include some meat unfortunately-FIL would not be impressed with a veggie meal!) am currently 6m pregnant and extremely tired, and working til 2 on the day, and need dinner on the table for 6.

Please inspire me with quick easy recipes I could serve?

All I can come up with is lasagne which I actually think is far more hassle than it's worth...

Pies? (one veggie, two meaty) with lots of side veggies and some potatoes to share between everyone. Or a beefy stew in slow cooker, and then a veggie stew or curry, with baked tofu. (serve with extra steamed veg and carbs, probably potatoes or rice.)

Macaroni cheese
Split into 2 dishes, put bacon in one and erm, something else - grilled big field mushrooms, sun dried toms ??? - with the other
Serve with green veg and garlic bread.

Chilli one mince one bean. Then add all the side dishes gaucamole, sour cream etc for people to help themselves.

Agree with the chilli idea, or self assembled fajitas/burritos with chicken and veg fillings.

Jacket potatoes are a good way to fill people up as well, and they go with the chilli and other sides.

Italian.
You can do antipasti where people stand around picking at their preferred veggie or meat treats. Then for mains, you can do a veggie pasta dish and a side salad and just add some sausages on the side for meat eaters (it's hard to find Italian sausages here, but I think you can use English style sausages which are very nice.) End with a milky dessert like tiramisu to give the veggies a little more protein.

I've gone this route and you are only cooking one meal with a few sausages on the side that are easy to prepare with minimal effort in the oven.

I had a mixed group of meat eaters/veggie friends around recently. I made veg samosas/onion bhajis to start, then chicken tikka breasts/thighs, dal, some curried potato and cauliflower and pilau rice. It sounds like a lot but it's easy as the chicken marinated from morning, and the rest can be done in one pot each.

How about a veggie and a meat lasagne? I did a roasted veg one at the weekend that took no time and you could make the bolognese for the meat one in advance and all you have to do is assemble(again ahead of time) then bake, serve with garlic bread and salad.

For my veggie one I roasted chunks of squash, peppers and courgettes in the oven for half an hour then layered with homemade tomato sauce, lasagbe sheets and white/cheese sauce(you could buy a ready made sauce) and topped with mozarella.

Also really like pp idea to do macaroni cheese, everyone loves that and one with bacon or even chicken in would be good for meat eaters. Leeks and mushrooms are nice in a veggie one, or even cauliflower too for those who like it.

The other thing I like to cook if have a mixed bunch is a red Thai curry. If you don't want to make a paste, the m and s one is really good, cook a load of veg( peppers, courgettes, carrots, small new potatoes in the paste and add coconut milk and possibly some veg stock. Then leave it all to cook. The potatoes make it nice and filling for the veggies, then you can bake some chicken or make some chicken skewers and grill them to serve with for the meat eaters. Goes with rice or noodles if you need the extra carbs and you can throw in some green veg at the last ten minutes too.

Butternut squash risotto...

Peel and roast a butternut squash the night before, whizz most of it smooth in blender with some stock, then use it to make a risotto on the day. top with crumbled blue cheese for vegetarians and with parma ham/chorizo/sliced chicken breast for meat eaters. Rocket and tomato salad, garlic bread and oven roasted oyster or flat mushrooms on the side. If you want starters/pud, then pick up a selection of veggie and meat antipasti and/or a premade tiramisu or some italian style ice cream (you could serve with coffee/booze poured over it for an affogato, or crumbled amaretti).

Or order a big veggie pizza and big italian meats pizza if you have somewhere decent nearby and serve that.

I would do Jamie Oliver's preg Joule's pasta, plus the same made with queen mince. Actually works quite well. And some focaccia and some salad.
