I really want some tonight with the fish cake I plan to have for dinner. I don't think I have mayonnaise but I do have salad cream. Would salad cream mixed with capers work as a v. basic imitation? Or if I do have Mayo, how about that mixed with capers?...I definitely have capers!
I was going to suggest as Donna that if you have eggs and oil you can make mayo. But you don't even need eggs as you can make with milk instead of eggs So....milk, oil, salt, few drops of lemon juice or vinegar.
I gave up last night. Was late when we eventually had a chance to make dinner, I went to the fridge and found some congealed mayonnaise so I decided to just bin it! I will definitely give making my own a go next time though. Thanks for the tips.
