So after 11 years and for various reasons I've decided to start eating meat again. Where do I start????? Will it give me a bad stomach after all this time? Arghhh and how do I get over the guilt? Sad

I tried eating meat again because I was very anaemic, having been veggie for almost 30 years. I failed terribly - it tasted horrible, and made me feel really ill.

Oh no! That's what I think will happen to me. I don't even have cravings for meat even when I worked in a bakery and was the main baker!

Go slowly! I stopped being veggie after 5 years and REALLY went for it with the meat Blush I don't think it's s coincidence that the IBS I still have started a few weeks later. I was an idiot!

I stopped being vegan overnight. Ate some sausage and mash and was totally fine.

I did start eating a lot of bacon and egg sandwiches though and put on over a stone in about 6 weeks. So just be careful of that, especially if you don't eat much dairy or eggs at the moment!

Go easy and avoid pork would be my advice. I gave up being vegetarian for a few years out of laziness really, but found I was taking indigestion remedies nearly all the time.

I'm back being vegie again and feel much better.

I was veggie for 17 yrs and now eat meat / fish once a week. It's been ok actually. I used to suffer from really bad IBS and it's improved since I've gone gluten free and minimised carbs.

I'll go full veggie again when I'm older. don't like eating meat but didn't like living on the toilet more.

I was veggie for around 6 years but my heart was never really in it so when I stopped the first thing on the menu was a bacon sarnie with lashings of brown sauce! I don't recall any ill effects with regards to digestive problems either.

Thanks everyone. I will take it slowly and see how it goes... fingers crossed

I was vegetarian (no meat or fish, and I was very careful about it) for 37 years until January 2014. Then I quickly became omnivorous again, with no problems at all. I am so enjoying being able to eat anything I fancy! Hope you enjoy whatever you decide to eat.
