The stuff you stick in overnight so it's ready for breakfast?
Cheers!

When I were a lass......... my father always used to mix up the oats & water & leave it on the top in the middle tucked up behind the hot ring. Then he'd put it on the slow ring in the morning just to a slow simmer & it was ready to go.
I think some people put it in the low oven over night, but I don't think you need it to be that hot.

Thanks Bugsy, I'll give it a go. In terms of quantities, do I cover or smother the oats in water? And should I add anything else, or is that it?

Anyhow, I will report back the results tomorrow morning.

As promised... the result!

Not bad at all. I think I need to mess around with the quantities of water/oats a bit, but DS seemed to enjoy it. It definitely needed the simmer this morning, just to thicken it up a bit, although I did use too much water. Tonight I shall try it in the bottom oven and see how that works out....

All this effort for DS, and I hate porridge!!!
