Egg a day for 2 year old?

My DD loves them for breakfast, and my MIL in law did it with all her kids. I know the "no more than 2 eggs a week" thing is now considered old hat but it still preys on my mind a bit. So, any reason why not?

Think it's something to do with the levels of cholesterol in yolk - although whether the 2 a week advice was mainly for adults I don't know.

My 3 year old LOVES eggs and asks for them daily, although I try and limit it to every other day.

I think they used to think that too many eggs raised cholesterol ( sp?) but I think that's not current thinking any more. Don't know what advice is now though

Yeah it was def the cholesterol in the yolk, then they decided it wasn't actually the really evil kind. But still not sure if every day might be excessive (she gets them once a week at nursery for lunch too). Have been trying to tempt her with yogurt, cheese on toast etc. but so far no go, not into milk either. I'm thinking she should be getting some kind of protein.

you're psobably past this by now but only just seen it. We eat millions of eggs as we keep chickens and our kids have eggs in some form for breakfast most days - scramled, fried, boiled, eggy brea and also pancakes (griddle ones like scoth pancakes with jam etc on or else 'bog ' ones like for pancake day). they do eat other things but we have lots and they love them! The colesterol thing has eased off now and i also eat them most days! We got chickens because 2 of teh kids were allergic to dogs etc and so we had chickens. Now we still have them and are into our 8th year of keeping the so always have lots of eggs' ideas!!!

FWIW, the naturopath/gp I went to said as we were vegetarians (including 3 year old) it was important we had an egg a day.
