Hot drinks - no caffeine, not herbal

What do you drink that is not caffeine, not herbal, nor robois. I'm trying to limit the amount of caffeine I'm drinking. I already drink a lot of herbals, Roibos etc but I miss my frequent cups of strong tea.

So, what hot drinks do you drink?

Yorkshire decaf tea

Ribena

Hot ribena. Miso soup. I Get the paste that comes in a tub from the chiller in the Asian supermarket.

Spiced berry from the Greenbottle range.

Thanks. Didn't think of decaf tea. I've never tried Barleycup but have the rest at home already. I miss my tea with milk and one cup black coffee a day. Once I work out whether caffeine is causing a problem I'll know whether I can go back to drinking it or not.

Bovril is great for lunch.

Another vote for spiced berry Greenbottle cordial. Tastes a bit like non alcoholic mulled wine. It never lasts long in this household, I have to hide it. Unfortunately it's not cheap.
Hope you can go back on your favourite drinks soon brew

barleycup. The original powder is much better than the granules

Decaf tea, hot chocolate, ovaltinesmile

I'm looking for something that has a bit of depth to the feel of the drink. I'm going to try your various suggestions.

Thanks.

Have you tried adding milk to the Rooibos? I really enjoy it milky, mind you I don't like normal tea so that may explain it!

MrsEricBana Sun 15-Feb-15 18:49:07

Agree with Prof Yaffle, I drink strong pure Rooibos with skimmed milk all the time and it looks and tastes just like builders'builders' (and it's naturally caffeine free rather than being decaffeinated)

sparkysparkysparky Sun 15-Feb-15 18:49:16

Decaf Yorkshire Tea. Tastes like the real stuff.

me to , i drink decaf yorkshire tea.

Decaf earl grey or decaf coffee.

I can stomach maybe one cup of jasmine green tea a day, but don't like other herbal or fruit teas.

Hot water with lemon is nice in the afternoon when you miss that caffeine pick-me-up effect. Very refreshing.

My favourite is hot lemon with grated ginger and honey to taste!
It s really warmig and comforting not to mention the anti inflammatory and digestive properties re ginger has. I keep ginger in the freezer to stop it going off too, and easy to grate a lot of it into ice cubes and the pop into the hot water with lemon. HtH

Another lemon & ginger fan here, sometimes I have it with honey too.

I've never tried Roobois with milk. Somehow it doesn't sound right but I'm willing to give it a try. I'm not a fan of Earl Grey. I often drink honey and lemon when not feeling well but not really at other times. I'll add it to my regular roster of drinks. Lots of good ideas to keep me going.

Honey and milk is a favourite when I'm poorly reminds me of my dad.

Rooibos with milk always.

Masala chai without black tea (cardomon, cloves, cinnamon infused in milk with sugar... Google recipes but this is the basis I think!)

Apple juice

Hot chocolate, bovril. Twinings fruit teas are caffiene free. Mulled wine

MEgirl Tue 17-Feb-15 23:06:46

Mulled wine sounds good though I can't drink at the moment due to medication.

I bought some barley cup yesterday. I can't say that it will ever be a favourite but I'll persevere until the jar is finished. Not sure yet whether I'll ever purchase another.

I tried the Roobois with milk yesterday. Again, it is tolerable but won't ever be a favourite.

I have yet to buy some decaf tea. I'll have to remember to add it to my shopping list for next time.
