Gammon abit too big for my pan...

I got a gammon today. It was half price and thought ooh bargain so bought it with a view of having some tonight and freezing the rest for sandwiches, soups etc.

However, i seem to have overestimated the size of my biggest pan as although it fits in sideways about a centimetre of it is above the water. I am planning on turning it round when the rest of it is cooked and just cook upside for a further 30 mins before chucking it in the oven.

Do you think this will be OK?

Its actually more than a centimetre, more like an inch - inch and a half...

If you can't get the lid on, cover it with a double thickness of foil so that the steam stays trapped & the joint will cook fine. Just keep an eye on the water level and top up occasionally.
