Smoked red herring fillets

Bought a pack as quite inexpensive, have now realized they are not like kippers as I imagined so i can't just do with eggs for breakfast as I had planned.

What can I do with them? Internet suggests I need to soak to remove salt and then add to pasta sauce like giant anchovies, anyone tried that are they nice?

Anything else I can do with them?

You could mash them up with some plain yoghurt and a dash (or several) of pepper with a squeeze of lemon for fish pate - goes really well on toast.

moonlight thanks, am low carb so no toast but would go on clery sticks I think, will give it a go - ta!
