I have made matzalan meatballs and think they may be a bit dry for the kids without the sauce.

Can anyone tell me how to make a nice tomato sauce for the kids please?

Soften small onion with some garlic (1-2 cloves). Add tin of chopped tomatoes, some mixed herbs, salt, pepper, tsp sugar and splash red wine/balsamic vinegar. Simmer on low for 20 mins or so. Whizz.

Hi, I make one that I use as a pasta sauce and pizza topping:

Fry finely chopped onion and 1 clove garlic
Grate one carrot in and add 1 tin chopped tomatoes
(I also add some frozen spinach if I have it-the little balls you can buy )
salt & pepper
tablespoon of Italian Herbs (or pinch of basil, oregano, parsley and thyme)

Then boil and simmer til you have a thick sauce, then puree (if you want to).
Really simple, and it tastes delicious! My ds (3) and all his friends love it-and you can feel smug because of the veg x
