Is it ok to freeze chopped onions?

Yes you can. Throw the frozen onions into a very hot pan when you cook. That stools any soggyness!

I do it all the time. I cook chopped onions from frozen (bash them a bit with wooden spoon to break up in pan). They may be a bit mushy but if they are base for a sauce I don't think it matters.

I freeze them in individual portion size bags and use them for stews, spag Bol etc. They don't fry very well though, there seems to be too much water content.
