New Year's Day buffet

For 14, including a vegetarian and an alcoholic (who has not had a drink for 30 years but clearly need recipes that don't involve bunging red wine in stew!).

I'm planning on doing a big pan of soup, a joint of whatever the butcher has to slow cook, bread (to make hot sandwiches) roast potatoes, salad, pate and cheese, crisps and dips.

Dessert to be decided!

Have I missed anything vital out?

What is your plan for the vegetarian? Maybe some fancy cheese to put with the sandwiches? Or a really substantial salad, with grains, to make it more of a meal?

Was going to be veggie soup but the grains for the salad is a good plan. Will hunt out a recipe. Have got Brie / Chedder / Camembert and Stilton for cheese.
