I've been asked to bring a salad to my brothers on Xmas eve.

What's good salad for about 16 people on such an occasion?

A nice winter coleslaw?
Something with chicory?

Does he mean a leafy salad, or just something cold do you know?

Not sure why I put a nice coleslaw. Who would plan a rubbish one, or a mediocre one?

Coleslaw? With vinaigrette if you're not a mayo fan.

Or Stilton and apple and walnut?

Or lightly pickled Asian cabbage?

Or orange and summat or other?!

Maybe a Russian salad? Is it a starter or to go alongside a main dish? Spinach with sautéed mushroom is nice (if you ccansm get to the stove).

German potato salad with capers and ham in it, or pasta salad, or a jewelled couscous, or tabbouleh, or maybe rice salad with chopped peppers, peanuts, and sweetcorn in it. Green salads are nice with chopped mooli in them.

Waldorf salad - apples, celery, sultanas, walnuts?

Or, as pp says, couscous salad with masses of chopped herbs and lemon and pomegranate molasses dressing.
