Avocados tasting odd, sugary

Is anyone else finding avocados tasting odd lately, really sugary and not creamy at all? It is driving me mad. Anyone know why this is?

It sounds like a high starch content. The fruit may have been picked at too immature a stage

Thanks, yes, I think that may be it. In the rush for cheaper fruit, I think they must be forcing them and picking before ripe or summat. Yuck, though!

I've traded avocados before now and they are tricky to get right. They have to be firm enough to transport long distances but not so firm that they never ripen. Don't suppose you clocked what variety it was? Hass? Fuerte? Or the country of origin?

no stickers on them - but each time this has happened they have been from middle eastern stores, getting a lot of stuff from Iran.

This time of year they're usually Mexican or Chilean. I've not seen them exported from the ME
